Privacy
Privacy by design,
not by policy.
Voom was built so that your recordings, your voice, and your data never have to leave your machine. That's not a setting you toggle — it's the architecture.
What stays on your Mac
Everything.
Recording, transcription, and editing are all fully local. There are no Voom servers involved at any step.
Recording stays on your Mac
Screen capture, webcam feed, and microphone input are processed entirely on-device. There are no Voom servers — nothing to send to, nothing to leak from.
Transcription runs on-device
Voom uses WhisperKit (distil-large-v3) on Apple Silicon's Neural Engine. Your audio is never uploaded — not to us, not to any transcription service.
Editing happens locally
Trimming, cutting, stitching, filler-word removal, tagging, and search all run on your machine. The finished file lives in the folder you choose.
What we don't do
A complete list.
These aren't aspirational promises. They're structural facts about how Voom is built.
No accounts or sign-in of any kind.
No telemetry or usage reporting.
No analytics SDKs embedded in the binary.
No crash reporter that phones home.
No advertisements.
No selling, sharing, or brokering of data.
No third-party transcription service.
No Voom servers at all — there are none.
When you choose to share
Your Cloudflare.
Not ours.
Sharing is completely optional and always per-recording. When you create a share link, the video is uploaded to your Cloudflare account — Workers, R2, and D1 — never to any Voom-owned infrastructure. We don't have one.
Your account, your storage
Voom uses Cloudflare's free tier (Workers 100k req/day, R2 10 GB, D1 5 GB — no credit card needed). The credentials are yours; the data is yours.
Always opt-in
Nothing is uploaded automatically. You decide to share on a per-recording basis, every time.
You control retention
Delete a recording from Cloudflare at any time from inside Voom or directly from your Cloudflare dashboard.
Password protection
Lock any share link behind a password. Access requires it — no exceptions.
Verify it yourself
Open source
under MIT.
Every line of Voom is public. Read the Swift source, audit the entitlements, check what network calls are made. The license permits it and the repo is there.
Clone and build it yourself in three commands.
git clone https://github.com/aritropaul/voom.git
cd voom/Voom
open Voom.xcodeproj Requires macOS 15+. The binary you run is the code you read.
Voom has no user database, no servers, and collects no personal data. There is nothing for us to lose, leak, or sell.
